New vintages and wines continue to be introduced to our store. Last week, two wines arrived - Majella 'The Musician' and New Harbor Sauvignon Blanc - both are new and definitely worth trying. In November 2009, Australian Wine Companion's James Halliday, awarded 94 points to Majella 'The Musician.' Now New Harbor Sauvignon Blanc comes from New Zealand's premier winegrowing region, Marlborough, and this wine shows the true characteristics of the region. Last but not least is Chalmers Chocolate Port. Forget making dessert and serve this instead. You won't be sorry. Once you try it, you will know why it won one of the Best Fortified Wines at the 2010 Vancouver Magazine Wine Awards.

MAJELLA

2008 THE MUSICIAN (+17095)

AUSTRALIA

What started out as a family trying to make a living is now, four generations later, producing fine wines. The Lynn family has come a long way from raising sheep for their wool to producing grapes for the Wynn Coonawarra Estates. On the Limestone Coast of South Australia, the Majella Vineyards is located in the Coonawarra District. This region is known for its world class reds especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz due to the red soil (terra rosa), limestone, underground springs and a perfect long cool ripening season. This red is very fruit forward with black currant, blackberry and ripe juicy plums on the palate. The long smooth finish and a hint of spice will leave you satisfied. Enjoy it now or even cellar for 3-5 years. $19.99

NEW HARBOR

SAUVIGNON BLANC (+822585)

New Zealand

Award-winningSauvignon Blanc wines have been produced in New Zealand for many years. TheMarlborough region, famous due to the dry climate, also has the perfect growing conditions for grapes. Marlborough is located northeast of thesouth island and consists mostly of sandy soils overslate, and excellent drainage. New Harbor Sauvignon Blanc is definitely true to its varietalwith its aromas of citrus fruits, then guava and passion fruit delighting your palate. I would describe this wine as a crisp, fresh white that anyone can enjoy especially with cheese or sushi. $14.99

CHALMERS

CHOCOLATE PORT (+31369)

AUSTRALIA

Now for the best one of all -- Chalmers Chocolate Port -- I think the name says it all. Anyone who is a chocolate lover will find this one with exotic dark chocolatea delightful treat. If you haven't tried it, then wait no longer. A full-flavoured tawny port and rich dark chocolate combines theold world with the new. The tawny port gets its golden brown colour and flavour from aging in wood barrels. This process exposes the port to oxidation and evaporation resulting in a nutty flavour. The date '1528' printed on the bottle commemorates the year chocolate was first brought to Europe from America. Traditionally, chocolate and port pair well together so why not have the best of both worlds in one? $21.99
