Adopting from the SPCA was a great experience!

As a person who has recently adopted from the SPCA I feel compelled to share my positive experience. From the moment we walked in the door the volunteers were polite and knowledgeable.

As a person who has recently adopted from the SPCA I feel compelled to share my positive experience. From the moment we walked in the door the volunteers were polite and knowledgeable. The first time we went they explained the application process thoroughly and after looking at our application made a suggestion about some puppies they felt would be a good match for us. We then proceeded to the back and had a look at the dogs and puppies.

Standing in the dog kennels made it clear to me why they make everyone fill out an application prior to viewing the dogs. I had a clear idea of what I wanted going in, but I still felt tempted by all sorts of dogs that would be unsuitable to our situation. I laughed about my foolish temptation, but I am convinced this is how so many people end up with pets they later abandon or surrender back to the SPCA.

We did not adopt that day. Due to a holiday weekend we had the luxury of taking some extra time to think about our decision and ensure that we were ready for more than a decade of time and financial commitments that a dog would require. The SPCA supported our thinking and on the following business day we adopted our puppy.

I want to thank the SPCA for their kind and courteous service. We did adopt one of the puppies the volunteers suggested for us and in the time we have had him it has been affirmed over and over that he and the SPCA were the right choice. Cheers to everyone at the SPCA.
