Appalled, disgusted

"Treat others as you would like to be treated." It's really a simple concept that I guess some of our mothers have not been able to get across to us.

I was absolutely appalled and disgusted when I saw the front page of The Citizen with a picture of Saturday's homicide victim. Regardless of assumed circumstance ("gang related," "known to police," "targeted hit," etc), there is absolutely nothing that makes it acceptable to publish a picture of the deceased in such a disturbing manner for every resident of Prince George and beyond to see, including the victim's family and friends.

I do not know, or have any association with this person, but I do know that I definitely would not want my final picture on the front page of the paper like some sleazy tabloid, for my parents, grandparents, children etc. to see. I also cannot believe the utter disrespect to the deceased and his family The Citizen showed by also releasing his name in print, while the RCMP would not release his ID due to notifying of next of kin.

The Citizen in my opinion has never really been known for great journalism, but this new low spells the end for me. I will not be reading or buying the Citizen any longer.
