How incredibly short sighted to vote down the building of a new arena (regardless of whether we call it Kin 4 or a stand alone arena) in favour of tearing down Kin 1 and rebuilding it - especially since building a new arena had already been approved.
Rather than taking a bit of time to see if the total cost of building a new arena could be brought closer in line with tearing down and rebuilding Kin 1, we now have to live without one arena for over a year even though all the arenas are now used basically at full capacity.
And once it is all complete, we will still be operating at capacity just in a nicer facility.
So, instead of getting a true legacy from these Games, we will end up exactly where we are today - with not enough ice/floor space for people who want to live active and healthy lives.
Thanks Mayor Rogers for abusing your authority and bringing this back to council to be debated yet again.
Your reasons for bringing it back are just as ridiculous as your comment that council will look at building a new arena after the Winter Games. If we can't afford a few more million now in conjunction with the 2015 Winter Games, we certainly will not be able to afford a new arena anytime in the foreseeable future once the majority of the money is spent tearing down and rebuilding Kin 1.
I can't wait to see what other decisions you decide to bring back to council because the vote didn't go the way you wanted it to!
