Change your truck not your clothes

Changing your clothes in the back of a vehicle has never been one of the easiest things to do for people in the movies.

Changing your clothes in the back of a vehicle has never been one of the easiest things to do for people in the movies. Mind you, changing your clothes in the back of a vehicle in real life has never been one of the easiest things to do either, and although I have been privy to a vehicle closet change or two, I have never been the one who needed the change nor has anyone come out of the closet in the back of my vehicle. Although, it must be said on one occasion I did open the windows and tell other drivers who were stopped at the traffic lights that someone was getting changed in the back seat. It just seemed to be the right thing to do as my friend had his legs up over the passenger headrest.

Now, while I understand the need to change wet socks and shoes or maybe a pair of track pants in a vehicle, changing a whole outfit from top to toe just seems a little weird.

However, if you ever feel the need to change from your everyday skivvies into a nice monkey suit for the black tie affair you are late for then the Nissan Titan is the perfect vehicle.

Not only is there enough room for changing clothes in the back seats, the truck matches perfectly with the black tie and tuxedo outfit.

The black and silver rims with what seems like a little bit of a lift make the Titan look like a suave yet menacing vehicle.

When in the back and getting changed into your outfit you can either sit on the seats and stretch out to get the pants on, or if you have put on a few pounds since the last time you wore the outfit, all you have to do is flip up the back seats lie down on the floor, take a deep breath and try to fasten the button. It might, however, be a good idea to wear a belt. We wouldn't want the button to fly off half way through the evening and take someone's eye out.

Up front the titan's seats feel and look like those in a luxurious sedan, wrapping around you with comfort and style befitting the tuxedo-wearing chap that you are, and the red stitching on the seats matches the fake handkerchief poking out of your top pocket.

The last thing you need when you show up at the party is to announce your arrival with the growl from a monster engine, and this won't be a problem with the Titan. There is a monster engine under the hood, yet it is unusually civil even at highway speeds.

Hammer the gas and the engine comes to raucous life with a deep rumble and roar propelling you forward with the speed of a vomit-inducing amusement park ride. The only thing is, there is no screaming from the occupants of the vehicle. The engine roars and the Titan surges forward, but that is it. The civility never leaves at any speed or over any terrain.

The Titan is exceptionally smooth and even on dirt road it never put a foot wrong. It was as easy to drive with one finger as it was with both hands at 10 and two. Any vibrations from the dirt road never made it into the cab, and this is especially good for the lady you are taking to the black tie event, as none of her lipstick will end up on her eyebrows when she is applying in the passenger seat.

The Titan has a large towing capacity, capable of hauling 9,300 lbs, enough to tow your Nissan GTR, your Nissan 370Z roadster and your wife's shiny blue Nissan Versa.

This Pro-4X version of the Titan came with a 69.3-inch bed with tonneau cover, providing enough room for almost anything you will need to carry. The power sliding rear window with defroster may also comes in handy as will the outside lockable storage compartment on the rear of the driver's side. It is perfect for tools, a first aid kit or even for storing your skivvies after you change into your tux.

At the back the thunk and crash has been taken out of the tailgate. Pull the handle on the lockable door, let go, and watch as the tailgate drops under its own power not by the power of gravity. It opens slowly like a majestic glove box door, and somehow the heft of a gate this big has been removed and it is easy to close as well. This means older folk who are tired of grabbing the tailgate handle of their truck then running for safety as it slams down and almost takes the back of the truck off can finally relax and not worry about getting things out of the truck bed.

Four wheel drive, satellite radio, Homelink garage door opener, power, heated and extending mirrors, EBD, ABS, Rancho shocks, Bluetooth, headphone jacks and stereo controls for the rear passengers, power roof and two driver seat memory settings add more comfort and convenience to the Titan's already excellent package. Although wearing headphones and rocking out in the back while trying to get changed may be taking things a little too far.
