Chronic pain clinic underfunded

Prince George hospital is priding itself on the addition of "university" included in its name.

In my experience this means a training hospital? Does this include training doctors and nursing staff?

The "chronic pain management clinic" is extremely underfunded and understaffed. There is only one trained doctor providing crucial pain relief for cancer patients, MS patients, unmanageable pain patients.

The clinic is so underfunded that people with life-altering pain infusion pumps would have to travel to Vancouver every three months and endure the expenses themselves, if funding is not met. In my case, and I know others, this would not be possible. I would have to revert back to being immobile and in excruciating pain.

This clinic is in need of two trained doctors and staff and a higher budget. As of now, our pain doctor receives and returns phone calls on his own time.

This is unacceptable. He fights for financing for pain pumps every year. Fights for office space, fights for an additional doctor and staff.

I hope we do not lose our caring doctor. Please help.
