I am writing to express my disappointment with the way the online posts to various news reports and stories in The Citizen are handled.

For a few months now I have been reading The P.G. Citizen website and am horrified by the many inappropriate comments that have been posted in response to several news reports. For example, when the young girl, Kristen Nelson, went missing several very cruel posts directed toward the young girl's appearance and intellect resulted. How upsetting this must be for friends and family of this young girl.

In another example, some responses to the article reporting that a former Prince George teacher had been charged with inappropriate conduct with a minor have totally blamed the victim. This kind of victim blaming is highly inappropriate - sexual abuse of any kind is not the fault of any victim whether they be male or female.

I feel The Citizen has a responsibility to its readers to remove these comments. I am wondering why these posts are not monitored more closely and quickly removed? Perhaps the online editor, or whoever is assigned to review these posts, needs to be more vigilant?
