For those of you who don't know, the Community Care Centre (CCC) is an agency in Prince George that provides low-cost counseling services while educating and training future counselors.
Due to budget cuts, the UNBC Community Care Centre will be shutting its doors on June 30th, 2015. The 50 wait listed clients will have to be referred elsewhere and counseling students will no longer have access to this amazing training centre.
In 2013, I completed my counseling training at the CCC.
The supervision and education I received was exceptional. It is because of this training that I have become a successful therapist in private practice.
I have been able to help many people overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns, just to name a few. The CCC's positive impact has been very far-reaching, well beyond the scope of Prince George.
My hope is that UNBC will reconsider its funding decisions. The CCC is a valuable resource for the community of Prince George.
In addition to educating so many future counselors, many individuals are able to receive help who otherwise couldn't due to financial concerns. It would be a shame to see such a beneficial facility disappear.
