Cougars’ fans should relent

As a fan, I have experienced the highs and lows of the team and have witnessed the steady decline in attendance at the CN Centre. As the on-ice performance deteriorated, hostility towards ownership increased. This has reached a peak over the past couple of years with many fans vowing to stay away from games. In my view, the point has been made and the Cougars' organization has responded both off the ice and with the on-ice product.

Although it's still early, this year's edition of the Cougars looks like a good one. We have a promising, exciting team with a quality coach and the often criticized GM deserves credit for the moves made.

In my opinion, it's time for local hockey fans to bury the hatchet and move on. Let's give the players the support they should be getting in a great hockey community like Prince George. It sure would be nice to get back to the atmosphere we once had at the rink and put Prince George back on the national junior hockey map.
