'Disruption'

We have just listened to Mr. McAllister's (Encana) official public apology for the uncontrolled release of toxic gas south of Pouce Coupe (Nov. 22, 2009). He apologized for the "disruption".

We have just listened to Mr. McAllister's (Encana) official public apology for the uncontrolled release of toxic gas south of Pouce Coupe (Nov. 22, 2009). He apologized for the "disruption". No recognition for the damage to health of people and animals.

An apology from our government (Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources) is in order.

You have not required any form of air monitoring system of this industry, which would alert residents to the fact that they are being enveloped in poisonous gas.

We all have smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, to monitor our homes. But we do not have toxic gas monitors in our homes.

Nor do we have any choice about living under constant threat of toxic poisoning from this industry.

There is no opportunity to be alerted and aware of the hazard in our homes. Obviously, as demonstrated in this case, neither the companies nor the government will be able to alert us of hazard in a timely way.

Minister Lekstrom, please take action and initiate an air monitoring system to protect us in our homes, adjacent to this high pressure toxic gas.
