Don’t invoke God to support your bigotry

In response to Harry Yates letter "Thank God for Trump" on

Nov. 19, I must say that it saddens me, and I'm sure many others of any and every faith, that there are still people out there who believe that God, our almighty creator, and religion can stand for and support divisive words and actions.

In your own letter, you refuse to call seven people by their true names, instead listing them by nicknames meant to be passive aggressive, but still convey disgust, such as Crooked Hillary or Crazy Bernie.

Where has God taught you it is alright to speak of others this way?

Where has God and your religion shown you that it is alright to support sexist ideals and bigotry, amongst many other hateful things?

I can assure you that this is not divine intervention. A man on the path of God would not refer to an entire nation as rapists, murderers, or drug dealers. God is about love, humanity and acceptance towards all seven billion of your other brothers and sisters.

When are we all going to begin to learn this seemingly simple concept?

God bless.
