Christmas is right around the corner, but there's still time to get your auto-loving family member a gift to remember.

Whether you're shopping for a special someone, your auto enthusiast parent, or your car-obsessed kid, there are many different gift options.

To start out, you can't go wrong with a car care kit. Check your local hardware store to see what kind of pre-made packages are available or put together a gift basket yourself. Packages can contain car wash fluid, glass cleaner, wax, polish, sealant, detailer spray, tire shine and everything in between.

For those who are on the practical side, try gift certificates. Gift cards can pay for a maintenance or detailing appointment at the person's favourite new car dealer or some sessions at the neighbourhood car wash. They're also a smart gift for those who are tricky to please, as the person can pick out their own vehicle accessories or add-ons at their favourite auto parts store or website. Your local new car dealer has many accessory options available that they can install for your gift recipient as well.

Another practical option is a dash cam. These cameras provide peace of mind if you're in an accident, and can also help with insurance. Dash cams on offer range from a basic camera setup to a state-of-the-art cam with multiple viewpoints, accident sensors, and options for recording speed and location.

Or perhaps you want to go green with your gifts this year. Those who are environmentally conscious will love a gas mileage monitor. These monitors track your fuel consumption in real time so you learn which driving behaviours burn the most gas. Many monitors can even set mileage goals!

Though it takes planning, purchasing a new or used vehicle as a present can be a once-in-a-lifetime gift opportunity too.

If you decide to make the jump, it's a good idea to consult with the person beforehand to ensure you have a holistic understanding of what they would want and need. Also make sure to talk to the local new car dealer you purchase from. Our dealers have years of experience--we can arrange to keep the vehicle on the lot, deliver it for the big day, and help you cover gifting aspects you may not have thought of.

Auto presents don't have to be big ticket either. If you need stocking stuffers, or just want to combine a few smaller things into a big gift basket, there are many options out there. For example, a phone mount is an easy and convenient safety addition, while a tire gauge is a simple yet useful gift. A special de-fogger pad that leaves your windshield streak-free and a sunshade to keep the interior cool on hot summer days are also good choices. Or try model cars like a Hot Wheels or similar die cast versions.

Finally, don't forget the perfect topper for your car-themed gift basket, tickets to the 2017 Vancouver International Auto Show, at the Vancouver Convention Centre from March 28 to April 2, 2017. This year's show will boast the latest makes and models, plus the most up-to-date accessories and special car culture features. Looking for a stocking stuffer? Why not auto show tickets! Tickets are available online now at www.VancouverInternationalAutoShow.com with General Admission tickets starting at $16 on weekdays and $18 on the weekend.
