Brian Skakun like most of us is not a bad person. We elected him because he is a straight shooter.
I agree that a rule had been broken, a protocol, the order in which we have learned to behave was upset. The fact remains is that if you are at the pool and your child is drowning and you know you can save him without injury to yourself and you know you need to act on that instant; are you going to wait and notify the lifeguard? You have to answer that one. Without a doubt I believe that some rules are meant to be broken. There is a gray space for this to happen. In that gray space there is gut instinct, intuition, common sense in the place we call human.
Taxes spent on this issue is ridiculous. Brian meant no harm, in fact felt he was doing his job. I just hate it when whistle blowers get the ax. Its people like him who put their life on the line to do a good job.
You don't fault the fire fighter who goes into the fire one more time when it's, sort of, against the rules. Give Brian a break. He's the kind of guy this province needs. No nonsense kind of truth.
