Re "Thank God for Trump" (letter from H. Yates, Nov. 19).
What a pathetic little mix of childish name calling of everyone who ran against Tump, with attributing his victory to the Almighty!
Why does Mr. Yates think, divine intervention just kicked in now?
Surely he and Franklin Graham, whom he quotes, must explain how presumably the same deity "gave" Barack Obama a much more compelling victory at a time in 2008 of bank failures, mortgage foreclosures unemployment and general panic.
But this is so typical of evangelicals, attributing only events they like to God's will without any explanation of how so very often things do not work out the way the God-fearing had hoped.
Thank God in four years time - unless Trump is impeached before that - his dog's breakfast of bad policies and hateful attacks on fellow human beings (nice Christianity that!) will lead to the electoral decontamination of the White House.
I just hope, indeed, I pray, that damage Trump has caused to treasured American institutions and values is not permanent.
