Gopher-torturing youth, parents should seek help

I read the article about the judge having to stay the charges against a youth whom was accused of torturing gophers.

I read the article about the judge having to stay the charges against a youth whom was accused of torturing gophers.

I admit the legal system can always be improved in one area or another; however, it is the reason of being charged that I find quite disturbing.

For a youth to say he made up lies of torturing small animals just to get attention speaks volumes. For this youth to say there is no recollection of doing such acts, yet say everything was a lie is completely contradictory.

How do this youth's parents play a role in this situation?

Furthermore, how much attention is this youth really lacking? Is this a need for other forms of intervention? It also makes me wonder if this youth, if truly that disturbed, will graduate from the torture of small helpless animals to bigger and greater disturbing acts as he ages?

I hope this youth, as well as the parents, are able to receive the help and support that seems to be in great need.
