I would like to know who steals a kids bike from ones car port? Yes I understand it should have been locked up or even in the back yard.
My son is nine and he rides his bike with his little brothers in the drive way and goes across the street to play with his friend, so yes, at times he forgets to put it away just like we as adults do from time to time. My poor 9-year-old son has been taught a very hard lesson.
I am sure after this when and if he gets another bike he will make sure it's put away or locked up, but what a way to teach a 9 year old the realities of the things that can happen in this world.
I know you are thinking it's just a bike, he only had for two weeks and he's never really had anything like this happen to him so to that little boy he heartbroken and sad, how does a Mom fix that?
