To mayor and council:
For a new RCMP building, the reverse petition was used (sorry, the Alternative Approval Process sounds so much better).
The 2015 Winter Games will cost an additional $15 million plus. Any chance we could have been notified before the successful bid? Would be nice.
Half of the $15 million plus we will be directly responsible for, while half is spread among our fellow Canadians through the generosity of Ottawa. But it's a great legacy!
If the Games have proven to generate from $70 to $90 million in additional economic activity, why will P.G. still be left with a debt when the show is over?
Oh well, we must be worth it.
Now, call me a mushroom. Over six weeks I have read the newspapers, watched the news and listened to radio and not one inkling of a new public works administration building.
I guess things just get done quicker and easier at City Hall using the "alternative approval process."
The roads are awful and our city debt is growing nicely, why not a few million more.
I side with Coun. Skakun on this one. The public works yard administration building is not a priority and can wait.
One taxpayer's opinion.
