The first page of the paper on Saturday, Jan. 28, has an article regarding the sentencing of a man found guilty of molesting a four-year-old girl.
He was sentenced to 14 months in jail and three years probation. Crown had been seeking 18 months to two years less a day for the offense.
On page 7 of the same paper, there is an article regarding the theft of 2,700 tons of syrup, in Quebec. The syrup was worth $18 million. Extensive jail time and fines up to $9.4 million have been suggested. The sentencing review has not yet been completed in this case.
I am disgusted with our justice system. When did the life and well being of a vulnerable innocent child become worth so much less than syrup?
