No patients please

As a new resident to Prince George (having moved here recently from Manitoba) naturally, one of the first things on my mind was getting set up in the health-care system. I dutifully registered for B.C. care card, which I have since received. Step two: find a family doctor. As a young individual, I have never had one - save my parents' doctor that I was growing up. Now that it's time I found my own, I began my hunt. My first thought was to go to the walk-in clinic to talk to a doctor there. I was given a reference, a name to call. I have been calling this particular doctor's office for almost a week, and left messages without getting a call back. I decided to continue my hunt on my own - googling doctors in P.G. and calling them one by one, to see if they were accepting new patients. I was told "No" over and over, before being given a number at the hospital. When I called there, I was given a different number for somewhere else. After calling there, I was told there were no doctors on the list for Prince George that were accepting new patients.

So, my question is this: As someone who's new to Prince George, how is it possible to access the healthcare (for which I am paying monthly!) if there are no doctors accepting any patients?
