For the past week or so, I have been hearing on the radio that Prince George wants to host the 2015 Canada Winter Games. I personally am outraged the city keeps planning on hosting these huge events, but every day in this city, people have to deal with the extremely poor conditions of our streets.
I myself have had to replace a tire on my car from hitting one of the unavoidable holes in every one of the streets in this town. Why must the Kin Centres, Outdoor Ice Oval, and the curling rink take top billing in this city, when only a small fraction of P.G. residents ever have anything to do with these.
I would have no problem with these events coming to Prince George, I would even support this bid for the Games, but not until the city starts to recognize that the condition of our roads is appalling.
Maybe if our premier actually drove our northern highways and streets himself, they would get improved to even half the calibre of the roads below the Caribou Region.
