Retirees hit hard by new taxes

I am so disgusted with this HST and carbon tax. My case in point. My parents are both retired and my Dad enjoys going for a walk to Tim Hortons every week day to meet up with his fellow retired friends to sit, enjoy a coffee and muffin, with them.

I am so disgusted with this HST and carbon tax.

My case in point.

My parents are both retired and my Dad enjoys going for a walk to Tim Hortons every week day to meet up with his fellow retired friends to sit, enjoy a coffee and muffin, with them. This visit with his friends is now going to cost him. How you ask?

Here's how. The extra HST that came into affect July 1, is now taxing him an extra 19 cents per visit. That isn't much you think. But calculate that over the year, that is an extra $50 that will be coming out of his pocket for something that was an enjoyment.

His visit with his friends is now going to be a luxury to him.

It makes me mad, not only, because this was something that he enjoyed doing, but now he is going to have to think twice about it.

Everything around my retired parents is going up. Not their pensions though. That stays the same.

Carbon tax added now on to their heating bill to heat their house, HST on dining out, camping, which my parents loved to do, and fishing licenses.

Come on now. Give us all a break.

How can anyone that is on a fixed income afford to do anything when now they are being taxed everywhere! It is not fair to anyone that is retired as they have to watch every penny, nickel or dime spent.

When is this government of ours going to wake up and realize that the everyday taxpayer is not a millionaire and can't afford all these tax hikes?

Wake up and smell the coffee!
