Today I have two good news stories to tell you about. The first is a comment from Michelle Caden, the Co-Chair person from the Simon Fraser Lodge Family Council. Michelle says, "On behalf our committee and the residents of the Simon Fraser Lodge I would like to pay tribute to Selen Alpay of Canadian Tire. Selen Alpay has made many friendships here at the Lodge through his caring and beneficent ways. We can not thank him enough for all the deeds he has done. He arrives to volunteer every Thursday to assist our senior residents with BINGO; unless Canadian Tire, the Canada Winter Games or many other organizations he is involved in call him away. If he is unable to assist then he will arrange for one of his Canadian Tire Employees to come and fill in for him.
"Selen has donated so much to our YMCA/Simon Fraser Lodge program and the residents and asks for nothing in return. He will only accept a simple thank you. He has a great sense of humor and has such compassion for people both young and old. There are not enough words to show the gratitude we have for Selen and for what he does for us and our organization."
My second good news story is a big bouquet of thanks to the technicians and radiologist at the Phoenix Medical Centre Mammography Clinic, the Mammogram Oncologist at the Cancer Clinic, Dr Wilson and the entire Prince George Health Care System. You guessed it. A friend of our family is battling breast cancer and all these professionals are making her journey a bit more bearable. My friend says, "My treatment is ongoing and I still have a long way to go. My story is long and complicated so I will just say that I think all these wonderful professionals that I mentioned must have been hand picked. They all treat me with such dignity and respect that I almost look forward to going to see them all. I know that with their care my life is in good hands. Sometimes I just break down and cry because I am so thankful for them all."
