Kelly Road secondary school was transformed into a police training academy during spring break to give youth a real taste of boot camp associated with becoming an RCMP officer.
The teens got up at 6 a.m. from the makeshift barracks in the school, went for a five-kilometre run, had breakfast, then began day-long classroom work. The day ended at 10 p.m. usually with a set of scenarios they create using actors and actual police resources in a replica situation.
