One of the biggest planes to ever fly into Prince George landed Tuesday at YXS.

An Ilyushin 76 aircraft based in Russia will stop over because there is no available parking in Vancouver or the lower mainland.

The giant jet will refuel here, and dock on the YXS tarmac.

This version of the Ilyushin 76 is slightly smaller than a 747, for easy comparison.

According to the specifications provided by the Open Joint Stock Company, the Moscow-based manufacturer of the Ilyushin series of planes, the Il 76 generally (there are several variations: military, civilian cargo, fire suppression, etc.) has a wingspan of 50 metres, height of almost 15 metres, empty weight of about 72,000 kilograms, a payload of about 45 tonnes and four turbo-jet engines.

Take a look at the video when it landed.
