Third time's the charm for Cynthia Dykhuizen.
In her third attempt in as many years, the grade-seven student from Barlow Creek Elementary School on the outskirts of Quesnel emerged the winner of the Citizen spelling bee at Vanier Hall on Saturday.
It took 10 rounds to narrow down the field at the Citizen spelling bee from 44 to three and a further six to decide the winner. Here's a look at that final round as held on Saturday at Vanier Hall.
Cynthia earned a cheque for $5,000 from the Egg Farmers of Canada to pursue an education and will represent northern B.C. at the Canwest Canspell national spelling bee in Ottawa, March 24-29.
