Another new tower has been proposed in the area covered by the Broadway Plan, this time in East Vancouver.
The 20-storey tower would be located at 310 E 14th Ave., where a 55-year-old apartment building with 32 rental units is currently located. The new tower would include 138 residential rental units.
"Located on the southwest corner of East Fourteenth and Sophia Street, the proposed development provides new residential units to contribute to the City of Vancouver’s housing stock," write the proponents in an application to the city to allow for rezoning of the property.
While the plan doesn't include any uses aside from residential, a rooftoop garden is in the design, with areas designated to grow food, set up a BBQ, and dine. A children's play area is also included on the fifth floor.
Potential renters will be looking at 56 studio apartments, 33 one-bedrooms units, 35 two-bedroom units, and 14 three-bedroom units.
Located between Kingsway and Main Street, the proponents of the project note the redevelopment will add housing to an area with transit options and plenty of commercial activity.
Currently, there are no similar towers in the immediate area, although the city's map of proposed projects shows four nearby projects have been proposed, including a pair of towers at Mount St Joseph Hospital with 542 Units, another 20-storey tower at 461 E 16th Ave. with 171 housing units, and another 20-storey tower around the corner at 270 E13th Ave. with 167 units.
