Snow accumulation is still well below normal throughout the province, according to the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.

While January typically sees the highest snow accumulation out of any of the winter months, dry conditions province-wide have led to just 83 per cent of the record median – the median for all historical snowpack data – across all of the Automated Snow Weather Stations, the ministry said. This is down from the mid-January statistic of 89 per cent of the record median accumulation, measured on January 15th.

More details, including a breakdown of snow accumulation by region, will be released in the Snow and Water Supply Bulletin later this month. The bulletin is scheduled to be released on either February 10th or 11th, depending on data availability. The most recent bulletin, reflecting data measured as of January 1st, showed the Upper Fraser East region at 82 per cent of normal.
