Firearms, drugs and contraband cigarettes seized in Quesnel

RCMP say the items are worth $220,000

Quesnel RCMP seized firearms, cannabis, cocaine and contraband cigarettes on March 28.

The Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance from the North District Emergency Response Team and other Quesnel RCMP members, executed a search warrant on March 28, at a residence in the 2000 block of Red Bluff Road in Quesnel.

The search led to the seizure of:

  • 1,100 cartons of contraband cigarettes
  • $13,185 in Canadian currency
  • 21 firearms and ammunition
  • 8 lbs of marijuana bud
  • 767 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms)
  • 330 grams of cannabis concentrate
  • 15 grams of cocaine

"The possession and sale of contraband tobacco products is becoming more common," said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. "The street value of the seized cigarettes is estimated at $220,000."

The investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the results will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charges, RCMP state.
