The Conservatory of Music is proud to announce its upcoming concert, "Let's Celebrate," marking 40 years of dedicated service to the community as a non-profit music school. This milestone event will not only honour their four decades of enriching lives through music education but also serve as the grand finale of their composer-in-residence project.

The composer-in-residence project was supported by a grant by the PG Community Foundation and included free composing workshops with renowned composer, Christine Donkin, and a special composing class in the PG and District music festival adjudicated by local composer, Simon Cole. Christine Donkin was also commissioned to compose a piece of music to celebrate the Conservatory’s 40th year, and this piece will make its debut at the concert. Christine Donkin will be travelling to PG for the premiere and will give a special introduction to the piece.

Aside from modern compositions, the concert program also includes works by Debussy, Fauré and Ginastera performed by the Conservatory’s saxophone, piano, harp, flute, guitar and violin teachers. The faculty will also be joined by select students who won this year’s composing and scholarship competition.

Artistic Director, Shoshanna Godber invites past Conservatory students to the concert which she says “honours our past, celebrates our present, and heralds a future filled with harmony and joy!”

In addition to the captivating musical performances, attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in birthday cake and refreshments during intermission.

“Let’s Celebrate” is on May 26th at 3pm at Trinity United Church (3555 5th avenue). Admission to this event is pay-what-you-can and is supported by a grant from the City of Prince George
