Kodiaks sign quarterback out of Manitoba

Following discussions with the coaching staff the Kodiaks signed Sawyer Thiessen to a Letter of Intent which in effect adds him to the Kodiaks Roster.

Quarterback Sawyer Thiessen has signed a letter of intent to join the Kodiaks after taking part in the team's annual evalation camp in early May.

Thiessen was one of 100 players invited to take part in the camp and had a strong performance.

Thiessen, originally from Steinbach, Manitoba played the 2023 season with the University of Manitoba Bisons. Thiessen had a solid performance during the evaluation camp.

“It’s an honour to join such a well respected team in the community," he said. "Having an opportunity to compete with a new team in a beautiful city is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, I intend to make the most of every moment” said Thiessen.

Sawyer will rejoin the Kodiaks in June to begin preseason preparations with the the team's season opener set for July 20 when the VI Raiders make their first-ever trip to Prince George.

The Kodiaks are a Canadian Junior Football League team playing in the British Columbia Football Conference.
