Short notice load restrictions may soon be put into effect throughout northeast B.C.

According to the provincial transportation ministry, the restrictions will apply to all highways within the Peace Highways District, including the South Peace, North Peace and Fort Nelson areas, as conditions warrant.

Restrictions will limit vehicles to 100 per cent, 75 per cent, 70 per cent, or 50 per cent of legal axle loading.

Overweight permits will not be granted, the ministry says, and all term overweight permits will be invalid during the restrictions.

Trucking and transportation companies, as well as the public, are told to plan accordingly.

Environment Canada is forecasting above zero weather through to next week, with temperatures in the low teens.
