Conservation officers in northern B.C. seized two guns and various ammunition during a traffic stop in Chetwynd earlier this week

Officers had initially stopped the pickup truck for littering on Tuesday (March 26) after a passenger was seen throwing a beer can out of the window, according to conservation officer Murray Booth.

Inside the truck were three people, two non-restricted firearms, and ammunition of various calibres.

None of the passengers had a valid firearms licences.

The guns and ammunition were seized, and belong to people known to the occupants, according to Booth.

The driver of the truck had not been drinking, and the passengers were co-operative, Booth said. "That's the only thing that went right in this check," he said.

One person was ticketed for littering.

The firearms and ammunition are still being investigated and remain in possession of the Conservation Officer Service.
