UPDATED: RCMP concludes courthouse search, determines bomb threat false

Police and firefighters were on the scene, with a drone being used in the investigation

Prince George RCMP officers have concluded their search of Prince George's courthouse and have determined that the bomb threat received earlier Tuesday, July 30 was false.

"Police officers will be allowing people back into the downtown area, the courthouse and the surrounding businesses," said Corp. Jennifer Cooper, the RCMP's media relation We thank everyone for their cooperation in staying away from downtown while we conducted our investigation."

Police will continue to investigate who made the false call to the courthouse this morning.

Earlier Tuesday Prince George RCMP had asked the public to stay out of the downtown area as officers investigated a bomb threat at the courthouse at 250 George St.

A wide cordon was set up around the block-sized property, with officers stationed at intersections to keep motorists from driving toward the scene.

The courthouse was evacuated. Police could be seen using a drone at the scene.
