Canadians will now have two chances per week to dream of winning up to $70 million in the lottery.

Lotto Max, which is Canada’s biggest lottery, will have some upcoming changes, according to provincial lottery corporations (who run the national lottery together).

As of May 11, 2019, Lotto Max numbers will be drawn every Tuesday in addition to the current Friday draws, according to the press release.

Jackpots will also be capped at $70 million, which is $10 million more than the current cap, which was hit recently.

When Lotto Max began in 2009, it offered multiple $50 million jackpots a year, and in 2015 the jackpot cap increased to $60 million.

The changes follow an extensive game design process that included consultation with lottery players across the country, according to a BCLC press release.

With Lotto Max increasing the main jackpot cap to $70 million, BCLC says opportunities to become a millionaire with Maxmillions will continue when the jackpot reaches and exceeds $50 million.

Sales for the new Lotto Max draw will start Saturday, May 11, 2019, with the first draw taking place Tuesday, May, 14 and the second draw on Friday, May, 17.

There will be no change of cost to play as prices will remain at $5 for three selections of seven numbers. Draws for Lotto 6/49 will remain on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
