While summer is still upon us, one of the biggest harbingers of fall will soon be on the landscape. Pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, including Starbucks’ infamous whipped-cream topped and spice-dusted milky espresso beverage, is about to take over.
The coffee super chain has revealed its official launch of fall, a.k.a. the arrival of the mighty Pumpkin Spice Latte: Tuesday, Aug. 27.
This is the 16th year the PSL has been a part of the collective cultural zeitgeist in North America. Invented in a Starbucks test kitchen in Seattle in 2003, that first year, the now-infamous coffee drink was only available in 100 Starbucks stores in Vancouver, B.C. and Washington, D.C.
Fast forward a sweet 16 years later and here we are.
You can have your PSL any way you like these days — in a cool frapp or with non-dairy alternatives (though heads up, that Pumpkin Spice Latte base sauce contains dairy). What a time to be alive!
Sweaters, scarves, boots…falling leaves and chilly nights, and pumpkin-spiced products galore are on the horizon, whether we are ready or not. Can you handle it?
