That is one expensive car to have taken away.

Traffic Services officers impounded five vehicles on Saturday, May 4, including a 2018 McLaren 720S worth approximately $462,000, according to an RCMP news release.

The McLaren was clocked at 151 kilometres an hour in the posted 80-km/h zone police said, adding that it was a new driver behind the wheel.

Insurance for the McLaren is about $15,000 a year.

Officers conducted enforcement on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove Saturday to mark May being High Risk Driving month in B.C.

Also stopped during enforcement was a motorcycle going 135 km/h in the 80 km/h zone.

"Police would like to remind motorists that speeding is considered one of the high-risk driving behaviours that leads to injuries and fatalities on B.C.'s highways," the release states.

"The faster you go, the longer it takes to stop and the less time you have to perceive and react to a situation."
