A music festival and a local drag racing event kept police in Prince George busy while targetting impaired driving.

According to a release, in a span of three days, Aug. 9 to 11, the RCMP’s Municipal Traffic Services Section conducted patrols in the areas of 15 Avenue and Ospika Boulevard, and Chief Lake Road and issued 12 violations under the Motor Vehicle Act

This includes:

  • Five - 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions with 30-day vehicle impounds
  • Four - Three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions with three-day vehicle impounds
  • Two - 24-hour driving prohibition
  • One - Excessive speed violation with a seven-day impound

Mounties say impaired driving is still one of the leading causes of serious and fatal collisions while out on the roads and urge the public to take all measures to get a safe ride home.

Anyone who witnesses an impaired person driving around or see someone get behind the wheel while impaired is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
