When Prince George RCMP Drug Task Force did a search of a residence Oct. 22 they discovered the house was being used to produce hash and hash oil.

Police seized 72 grams of hash, three shotguns, two long guns, a large quantity of cash and an extendable baton in the residence located in the 1400 block of Nation Crescent.

"Hash oil is a thick liquid made from dissolving hashish or marijuana in solvents like acetone, alcohol, butane, or petroleum ether. The resulting liquid is then separated from any plant matter and the solvent is allowed to evaporate. The substance that remains is a concentrated form of cannabis known as hash oil. The THC content is concentrated and therefore results in a more potent effect," explained Cst. Lesley Smith, media relations officer.

Police arrested three males at the scene, one of which will be facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, as well as a number of firearms offences.
