A Prince George man was sentenced to 23 months in jail for sexually assaulting and choking a woman in a alleyway following a night at a downtown bar.

Kelsey Alexander Allard, 28, was handed the sentence Friday by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Lauri Ann Fenlon, who further ordered he serve the time at Ford Mountain Correctional Centre in the Fraser Valley so he can take a sexual offender treatment program.

Fenlon described the act as a "sickening sexual assault that involved choking, threats and violence," but also noted he was of moderate risk to reoffend.

She also took into account the fact that Allard had already spent 10-and-a-half months in custody from the time he was arrested in the early morning hours of May 18.
