teare-creek-wildfire-update
Teare Creek wildfire eatst of McBride is being held.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has implemented an area restriction order for the vicinity of the Teare Creek wildfire, east of McBride.

It is a wildfire of note that is currently listed as being held, which means it is not likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.

BCWS currently has four initial attack crews and one unit crew of four officers and four helicopters fighting the wildfire.

The size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities.

An area restriction refers to area closures and activity restrictions necessary to limit the risk of a fire, to address a public safety concern or to avoid interference with fire control.

This order takes effect immediately and remains in force until September 30, 2023 or until it is rescinded.

This means a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization unless the person is:

-- Travelling to or from his or her residence.

-- Using a highway as defined in the Highway Act.

-- Travelling through or entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity; or

-- Travelling through or entering the area for an approved purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities

-- Failure to comply with restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
