Police are suspecting arson to be the cause of a residential fire in the VLA area of Prince George last week.
In an update this morning (Jan. 18), RCMP say investigators believe this is the case as the flames began outside the 2100-block Norwood Street home before first responders were called in around 7 a.m. on Jan. 14.
The home was fully engulfed when 15 firefighters first arrived on the scene, resulting in an unknown estimated damage to the home, but it's said to be 'extensive.'
The lone occupant and one of their two dogs made it out safely; the second was later rescued.
Crews then extinguished the blaze, City Fire Investigators took over in trying to determine its cause as it appears to be suspicious and the case is ongoing as of this publication.
Mounties are encouraging neighbouring residents to contact them if they saw or heard anything suspicious that Thursday morning.
