The region’s biggest entertainment show just got bigger, financially speaking.
Northern FanCon, based at the CN and Kin Centres in Prince George, received BC government funding of $17,150 this week to help grow its tourism footprint.
This is part of the province’s Tourism Events Program, which allows local festivals to apply for grants and ‘raise awareness nationally and internationally,’ in an effort to help grow BC’s economy.
Northern FanCon is entering its fifth annual convention, where local residents come to celebrate movies, television series, comic books, and even get to meet their favourite actor & actresses.
Director Norm Coyne announced a preliminary guest list in October, which included notable actors Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, A Knight’s Tale, Firefly) and Ryan Hurst (The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Bates Motel).
