Before the end of March, a Prince George-bound flight was added to a list of COVID-19 exposure events.

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), passengers on a WestJet flight on March 27 with service from Vancouver to YXS are being warned of possibly coming into contact with someone who recently tested positive for the virus.

It's flight 3287, with those seated in rows four to 10 potentially impacted.

This is the fifth 2021 flight marked for COVID-19 that's connected to Prince George's airport, the third in March and the third involving WestJet.

The flagged YXS services this year are as follows:

  • Jan. 1 = WestJet flight 3282 from Prince George to Vancouver - rows three to nine
  • Feb. 28 = WestJet flight 3287 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows 14 to 20
  • March 6 = Air Canada/Jazz flight 8209 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows three to nine
  • March 26 = Air Canada/Jazz flight 8212 from Prince George to Vancouver - rows 10 to 16
  • March 27 = WestJet flight 3287 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows four to 10

Since March 27, 2020, passengers seated near a case of COVID-19 that was recognized after arrival are no longer being directly notified of their potential exposure, but are asked to check online and monitor their symptoms.

As of this publication, Northern Health has recorded 6,043 COVID-19 cases since March 14, 2020, to which the virus was linked to 124 deaths.

This also includes 297 currently active cases, 13 people in critical care among 30 total hospitalizations and 5,612 recoveries.

There was no update today, but Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry is scheduled to provide new data tomorrow afternoon (April 3).
