The warmer-than-usual spring hasn't translated into an early emergence of bears from their dens but that doesn't mean residents shouldn't get themselves ready, says conservation officer Gary Van Spengen.
"Right at the beginning of May is when they all seem to come out and they're roaming around," he said. "It's still a good idea to start preparing your yard and your house to ensure that we don't see 28 bears killed again this year in Prince George, like we had last year."
