Eight local businesses know more about reducing their carbon emissions thanks to a partnership between the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and the University of Northern B.C.
Chilako River Ranch, EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc., Glenbirnam Farm, Home Sweet Home, JFT Secure Ltd., Nest Egg Ostrich Ranch, and P.S. Piano Service took part in phase two of a carbon footprint reduction project sponsored by CN Rail, one of the largest employers in the Prince George area.
Students did the project as part of UNBC's Carbon Management: The Intersection of Business and Environmentalism. Each business had an analysis done of their source of carbon emission at no cost to them and then got a report filled with recommendations on how to reduce emissions, consumption and energy expenses.
The focus of phase three, which goes from now until August, sees businesses that want to apply carbon reduction to their company practices. The Chamber of Commerce has hired summer intern Natalie Alteen to work with the companies in the position funded by the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions.
