The Community Foundations of Canada network, for the past 12 weeks, has awarded much-needed funds to non-profits across the country who find themselves in a difficult position during COVID-19.
This includes the Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF), who, according to a news release today (Aug. 6), have officially rolled out almost $295,000 to associated organizations within northern B.C. and the Cariboo.
Through the $350-million Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF), headed by the federal government, 38 regional non-profits are set to receive necessary items to help the community during the pandemic, such as technology upgrades, mental health supports and cleaning materials.
This also includes the following 10 organizations based in Prince George, who received a combined $106,820 in funding:
- $30,000 - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC
- $15,000 - AimHi Prince George
- $12,600 - Canadian Mental Health Association’s Healthy Eating during COVID-19
- $12,500 - Child Development Centre of Prince George
- $12,000 - Salvation Army Prince George
- $6,575 - Spinal Cord Injury B.C.
- $5,090 - Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation
- $5,000 - BC Cancer - Prince George Patient and Family Comfort Fund

“The Prince George Community Foundation is pleased to be able to support our communities through the disbursement of these funds to help charities pivot in order to remain operational during this pandemic,” says PGCF Development Director Mindy Stroet.
“This would not have been possible without the support of the Government of Canada, Community Foundations of Canada and the regional Community Foundations and partners across the North that we worked with.”
