A Canadian first took place Saturday night (May 2) that included Prince George.
Hundreds of local residents tuned into the Stay-at-Home Gala to raise funds for the most vulnerable among the COVID-19 pandemic and came through above and beyond the Prince George Community Foundation’s (PGCF) initial goal.
A total amount of $52,354.41 was brought in for the PGCF Emergency Response Fund, more than double the $25,000 the organization was hoping to receive.
That bar was set in accordance with the Foundation’s 25th anniversary year.
“This includes a $20,000 donation from Scotiabank,” explains the PGCF in a release today (May 4).
“These funds will be used to help registered charities in Prince George. Locally, Catherine Hansen and Kyle Sampson kept the evening moving as dynamic hosts.”
Prince George was one of 20 communities across the nation that participated in the Stay-at-Home Gala.
Local guest performers and speakers included Amy Blanding, Will Stroet, The Statistics, Grace Dove, Brett Connolly, Dan Hamhuis and Eric Brewer.
