The Canadian Wrestling Elite tour (CWE) is set to re-enter the Prince George ring on May 9, 2020 after slamming a successful show last month and raising almost $1,200 to help send local kids in the Navy League Cadet Corp 142 Aurora to summer camp.
On Nov. 16, CWE’s ‘The Juice is on the Loose’ show sold out, rattling the cages of hundreds of entertainment fans in attendance at the Connaught Youth Centre as the nation’s top performers did not disappoint.
This included Prince George-legend Stuart Brown, also known as “The Mauler,” headliner Lucha Libre Juventud “The Juice” Guerrera, B.C.’s own “The Vixen Jade,” tag-team champion “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs and four-time CWE Champion “Hot Shot” Danny Duggan.
This time around, in honour of the tour’s 11th season on the road, the latest spectacle will welcome wrestling icon and five-time World Champion Shane Douglas, aka “The Franchise.”
The 55-year-old legend of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the former World Wrestling Federation (WWF) is making his seven-year anticipated return to the CWE ring after taking on “Hot Shot” Duggan in a one-time match in 2013.
According to a CWE release, Douglas is considered to be one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling history, going against the grain and rebelling mainstream entertainment to form the Extreme Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship.
The currently-titled 11th Anniversary Tour will also see CWE’s debut in other northern B.C. communities along Highway 16 before rolling into Prince George.
Burns Lake will get a taste of the action on May 6 followed by Prince Rupert on May 7, and there are reports of a potential show coming to Terrace, but the CWE has yet to confirm.
Venues are still being booked for these communities.
Prince George’s show on May 9 will return to the Connaught Youth Centre and another fundraiser is set for the Navy Cadets.
Between the two 2019 shows in B.C.’s northern capital, close to $2,500 has been raised.
CWE has five other B.C. stops on the 36-day tour starting Apr. 26, 2020, including Williams Lake, Squamish, Richmond, Kamloops and Golden.
