CNC fundraising wall calendar benefits health students

College of New Caledonia hopes to give its nursing and health care assistant students a lift from sales of its 2011 wall calendar.

For the past three years, students in health care assistant, practical nursing and bachelor of nursing programs have needed a lift to help patients who have fallen or need assistance into wheelchairs or beds.

"This $10,000 piece of equipment is the same kind that our graduates will use in hospitals and health care facilities in the Prince George area," said Randall Heidt, CNC director of communications and development. "Those who buy our wall calendar for $5 are helping CNC buy equipment that is vital to train our students as well as maintain the health of northern B.C. residents."

The 12-month calendar features coupons from more than a dozen local businesses and illustrates every month the variety of programs, activities and students at CNC.

The calendars are on sale throughout the holiday season. Nursing students will be at Costco Saturday, Dec. 4, 5, and 18 and Canadian Tire Saturday, Dec. 11.

"Please help us make this project a reality for CNC students, so they can provide personal, highly skilled care for people in need," said Heidt. "For the price of a Christmas card, this is something that can not only help you remember special occasions all year long, but help our students as well."

The calendars are also available at the CNC Bookstore and the CNC Communication Services office, Room 2-354 at the Prince George campus.

People can also make tax deductible donations toward the lift at www.cnc.bc.ca.
