Prince George Cougars goaltender Tyler Brennan has been invited to the 2022 Kubota CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game.
Brennan is one of 15 Western Hockey League (WHL) players to participate in the game, slated for March 23 in Kitchener, Ont.
Brennan, 18, has played in 27 games this season and has a 9-16-1-1 record, 3.32 goals-against average (GAA) and .906 save percentage (SV%). He also has three shutouts which is tied for second in the WHL. Over his last five starts, Brennan has posted a 2.77 GAA and .920 SV%. Last month he was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 16. The Winnipeg, Man. product is the top-ranked North American goaltender in NHL Central Scouting’s midterm ranking for the 2022 NHL Draft.
Brennan is the first Cougar to be invited to the CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game since former goaltender Taylor Gauthier participated in the event in 2019 in Red Deer, Alta.
The 2022 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game showcases the top-40 CHL players eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft from across the WHL, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The 40 players will be divided into Teams Red and White with the rosters and coaching still to be announced.
